Mark Kelly

President

Mark graduated with a BSc in Chemistry and began his career at Dow Chemicals in Sarnia before returning to the University of Waterloo to obtain a PhD in Polymer Chemistry. After a 3-year stint in Leverkusen Germany with Bayer he returned to Alberta, Canada and worked for NOVA Chemicals. After 25 years of working on improving NOVA’s various gas phase polyethylene processes, he retired as a Senior Research Scientist.

He started investing in the stock market by getting tips from his fellow workers at Dow and from there began to learn about technical analysis. After many years of online courses, live workshops, books and a lot of stock and option trades he transferred his many experiences and insights into his first book Dating the Stock Market - 10 Key Mindsets You Need to Excel as a Trader. The book explores some of the inner changes he feels are necessary to improve a trader’s performance. Through CATA, he is able to explore the markets with other knowledgeable traders and continues to learn the art of technical analysis.

In 2010 our financial advisor disappeared after losing 90% of our life's savings. Since then I've managed all aspects our finances and the results have exceeded our dreams. Around the same time we became empty nesters and it became a game to reduce our living expenses and invest the difference. I've beat the indexes every year but one. In 2019, I quit my job at an accounting firm to spend more time on the portfolio and pursue a healthy lifestyle. My husband still works as we're not financially ready to retire yet and still mid-50s. Recently we're enjoying a travel lifestyle by dog-sitting for friends in various places. We are making the most of the work from anywhere lifestyle!

Jeet is a strong advocate for lifelong learning and financial education. He values the role that knowledge, discipline and continuous self development play in making informed decisions and is proud to support the organization's mission of advancing education in investing and technical analysis.

Thaddeus (Ted) Kirke
Board Member

Technical Analysis found Ted when he was managing a $1.7b portfolio of fixed assets for BMo in the late 80’s. In short order he was buying graph paper and pencils to make his first handmade charts. This soon led to the purchase of Metastock software as an early 2 digit customer number in the 90’s. Since then, the CMT course, CSTA and CATA membership, and reading just about every book he could find, has helped to temper his enthusiasm with structure, rules and probabilities. He has successfully traded futures and options and proved his belief that TA works quite well, thank you very much. Now in these retirement years, the occasional stock and ETF swing trade is still providing regular rewards which turn into travel, and charitable donations, and spoiling of the grandchildren.
